DMIC Fejioa

 On the 17th of May 2021 We did a DMIC problem about Feijoas. We had to figure out how much money she made all together and for each day how many of each bag she. I did this with Lulu, Lilley and Jess. The 1 kg bags were $2, 2 kg bags were $3.50 and 5 kg bags were $6. On Monday she made $13.50, On Tuesday she made $47, on Wednesday she made $25, on Thursday she made $34, on Friday she went to the movies, on Saturday she made $42, and on Sunday she decided she had enough money.

To figure out how much money she had we added all the costs together separately then added those numbers together and ended up with $161.50. Then we had to figure out the second question which was also simple. We used Guess And Check. On Monday she sold 2 1 kg bags, 1 5 kg bag, and one 2 kg bag. That came up to $13.50. On Tuesday she sold 20 1 kg bags and 2 2 kg bags which was $47. On Wednesday she sold 2 2 kg bags and 3 5 kg bags which was $25. On Thursday she sold 5 5 kg bags and 2 1 kg bags which was $34. Finally on Saturday she sold 7 5 kg bags which was $42. 

Of course there were many different ways to solve each day to get the answer. When we were finished we presented to the class. I was the writer, Jess was the presenter, Lulu was questionnaire and Lilley was the reader. We explained how we got our answer and sat back down.

Science Roadshow

 On Tuesday the 30th of March, the Science Roadshow came to Otaki College with many different gadgets and gizmos to show us. They showed us experiments involving fire and explosions and lots of gases and balloons. It was very interesting to see. First when we got inside   there was already a few classes sitting down. we sat to the right of them and began listening. Two lady's were talking to them about something they had previously done. She soon got onto us and began the show. A blonde haired girl  introduced herself as Jess and her brown-haired friend was Steph. Jess said they would be talking about gases and asked if we knew any gases. Lots of people had good ideas and raised their hands.  When that was done she demonstrated some experiments. DMIC Problem Solving

Today we did DMIC Problem Solving in groups of four. Shylah was the questionnaire, I was the writer, Jorgia was the presenter, and Jess was the reader. The problem asked us to figure out how many cookies a child had eaten on the first day of five. The kid had eaten one hundred cookies in total. First we took away six from a hundred five times and soon after realised that strategy didn't work. We then tried to divide one hundred by five. That strategy didn't work either. Then we tried guess and check. We started with the number fifteen. we added six to the four times and got the following numbers. Fifteen, twenty one, twenty seven, thirty three and thirty nine. We added all those together and got one hundred and thirty five.Then we tried ten which was to, high, five was two low, and then we tried eight.
