Rã Haka Day

Friday the 21st of May, we had Rã Haka day and Pink Shirt day were combined. Quite a lot of people wore pink to support the anti-bullying message. Including me. I wore a pink tutu and feathery boa. Most of the day we learned a waiata and the college haka.

The waiata was easy to learn for me and we did it about 10 times before we moved onto the haka that went alongside the waiata. That was harder to learn. All the moves were confusing for me and I'm still pretty bad at it.  After break one we split up into our house groups to preform the haka as a house. Kauri, my house was assigned the small gym

I was one of the most dressed up in the whole house as most people didn't even dress up and wore normal clothes. That was ok though. When we were done our 20 minute practice went to the big gym. It took about 5 minutes for every house to arrive but when they did we began. Of course Kauri had to go first which was annoying. I did the same moves and stood next to the same people as in the small gym, then it was over. We then watched the other groups preform then we did a whole school haka. Lots of the senior boys poured their hearts into it and gave it their all.

After break 2 we practised the waiata again. After about an hour on that the classes went back to their homerooms and waited for the bell to ring
